TASMU

Tasmu app is a platform created by the Qatar government designed to accelerate the achievement of all the pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030. It delivers digital solutions to the citizens, residents and visitors of Qatar with the aim of improving their lives and driving sustainable economic diversification.

My role: UI Designer, Create Design System

About Tasmu

The platform has ambitions to facilitate the launch of~200 use cases over the next decade, while touching on the lives of millions of residents and visitors with digital services and creating economic impact through smart city-led innovation, job creation and efficiencies.

Hence the important of having a scalable design system where other governmental strands could use it and add their services to the app following Tasmu brand guidelines.

My work in this project involved helping Tasmu enhancing their user interface and creating a design system as well as optimizing and improving user flows.

Visual Enhancements & Design System

Tasmu already had more than 100 screens designed, but the visuals weren’t consistent and each time a new page needed to be created there was no reference for which component to use.

A second issue was that the web version had different typography, styles and components than the mobile version

The Process

First, I started analyzing and auditing all the screens and separating the existing components into categories, for example: all buttons, notifications, checkboxes, radio buttons etc..

Once it was done we had listed all the components that would need to be re-designed and to be created into the component library.

The new component library was structured to have a documentation listing all the component variants, different usages, date of modification.

The new components were created with auto-layout, meaning that they would grow to fill or shrink to fit, and reflow as their contents change, allowing time saving, flexibility and scalability when creating or updating screens.

Finally, along with the UX team work the app flows were updated and we applied the new components and design to the app screens.
